Nintendo 64 Cartridge Collection

The Nintendo 64 launched in 1996 in standard dark gray. Nintendo later released a wide range of Funtastic Series translucent colors (Jungle Green, Ice Blue, Fire Orange, Grape Purple, Watermelon Red, Smoke Black) in 1999. The Expansion Pak (4MB RAM upgrade) was required for games like Donkey Kong 64 and Perfect Dark, and enhanced titles like Majora's Mask and DK64.

N64 cartridges use CR2032 batteries for save data (SRAM) — these typically last 15–20 years, meaning most original carts are now overdue. The analog stick mechanism is prone to wear and drift. Cartridge contacts can oxidize, causing boot failures. The console's power supply is also a common failure point.

The N64 is region-locked — NTSC (North America/Japan) and PAL (Europe/Australia) cartridges are physically different shapes. North American and Japanese consoles both use NTSC, but the cartridge tabs differ slightly. Japanese cartridges fit in North American consoles with minor modification, but PAL cartridges require a adapter.
